One stolen cable run or a smashed inverter can drop the site’s power, and a tampered fuel point can stop your firming unit just when the battery runs low. The result is an outage, lost work, costly repairs and a safety risk from damaged electrical equipment.
USP&E Helps You Secure Solar Trailer and GT Firming Sites
We know security is often left to the site guard while the power team focuses on getting trailers running. USP&E brings 150+ power projects in 45+ countries and 25,000 MW contracted since 2002, and our 400+ engineers and project managers plan compounds, lock-down measures and remote monitoring for solar trailer hybrids and gas turbine firming on remote or temporary sites. We work under ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified systems with FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
Good security is part of the power design, not an extra. It decides where trailers park, how cables run, which alarms you monitor and who responds when something changes at night.
Assess the Risk Before the Trailers Arrive
Talk to local security staff, the site team and nearby operators about theft and vandalism in the area before you mobilise. Ask what gets stolen, when and how. Copper cable, batteries, panels and fuel are common targets, and patterns differ from site to site.
Use what you learn in your layout. Park trailers, batteries and firming units in one compound rather than spreading them across the site, keep cable runs short and inside the compound where possible, and keep fuel storage where it can be watched.
Plan lighting and sight lines so your guards and cameras can see the equipment. Dark corners behind containers are where tampering happens.
Lock Down Equipment and Monitor It
Fence and control access to the hybrid compound as one secure area, with locked gates and a record of who enters. Lock down panels with tamper-resistant fixings, lock battery and inverter enclosures, and protect cables with covers, conduits or burial where the site allows.
Secure fuel points on gas turbine or engine firming units with locks and level monitoring, so a drop in fuel shows up as an alarm rather than as a unit that will not start.
Add alarms and remote monitoring. Door switches, power drop alerts, unexpected stops and camera feeds sent to a monitored service or your operations team give early warning. Many hybrid controllers already send data, so link security alarms to the same telemetry.
Agree Response and Keep Improving
An alarm without a response is just a record of the loss. Agree who responds to each alarm, how fast, what they do on arrival and when they call police. Test the response with drills, especially at night.
Review your incidents and near misses every month. Adjust lighting, fencing, alarms and patrols as patterns change, and share lessons between your sites.
Security planning carries through to permanent power. A remanufactured GE Frame 6B, used/new gas turbines or natural gas engines/stations that follow a solar trailer bridge need the same protection, and hyperscale EPC/O&M teams secure the gas turbine generators, AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute on campus with layered controls, an approach planned in from the start for the New USP&E FX-45 45MW Modular Gas Turbine for the Hyperscale Data Center sector in the USA.
Local Teams Near Your Solar Trailer Hybrid Site
Data-centre schedules are won or lost in permitting, gas supply and interconnection, so USP&E puts its US offices first. Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700) give you two US bases for engineering reviews, procurement follow-up and site visits, and both teams work your solar trailer and GT hybrid alongside you rather than from a sales desk.
Behind them, London (162-168 Regent Street) handles structuring, bonding and finance; Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) owns engineering and project controls for solar trailers, hybrid controllers and GT firming packages; Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) supports design and commissioning; and Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) manages China manufacturing and supply-chain follow-up.
For solar trailer site security, Colorado Springs and Knoxville engineers can review your layout with local security staff, plan the compound and link alarms to your hybrid telemetry before go-live. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. That network stands behind 150+ power projects in 45+ countries and 25,000 MW contracted since 2002, run under ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified systems.

FAQ: Solar Trailer Site Security GT
Why do solar trailer sites need a security plan?
USP&E plans security because panels, cables, batteries and fuel on remote sites attract theft and vandalism. Your hybrid can lose power from one stolen cable run or tampered fuel point. A planned compound, lock-down and response protect both equipment and uptime.
What equipment is most at risk?
USP&E sees copper cable, batteries, solar panels and fuel as the most common targets on remote and temporary sites. You should ask local security staff what is stolen in your area, because patterns differ between regions and change over time.
How should the hybrid compound be laid out?
USP&E keeps trailers, batteries and firming units in one fenced, lit compound with short cable runs and fuel storage inside it. Your layout should give guards and cameras clear sight lines. Spreading equipment across the site makes it much harder to protect.
What remote monitoring helps most?
USP&E links door switches, power drop alerts, unexpected stops, fuel level alarms and camera feeds to a monitored service or your operations team. You often reuse the hybrid controller’s telemetry. Early warning only helps when a named responder acts quickly.
Where are USP&E’s offices that support hybrid sites?
USP&E leads solar trailer hybrid projects from Colorado Springs and Knoxville, with London handling contracts and finance. Johannesburg and Cape Town support remote African sites, and Wuxi covers China manufacturing and supply. Every office works from one project file for your site.
Has USP&E delivered hybrid and gas power before?
USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies also cover Perenco in Guatemala, where USP&E delivered a modular HFO and diesel power station under full EPC. You can read each case study yourself.
Is USP&E a broker for solar trailers?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E designs, supplies, builds and operates power plants with its own engineers, so the team that plans your site security also deploys the hybrid, monitors alarms, reviews incidents and stays accountable to you for uptime.
How fast can USP&E respond on a security plan?
USP&E can start reviewing your site plans, risk notes and equipment lists as soon as you share them under NDA. Engineers flag exposed cables and fuel points first, then issue the compound and alarm plan, with timing set by mobilisation dates.
Protect Your Hybrid Power Around the Clock
Get site security right and your solar trailers and firming units keep delivering power, day and night. Get it wrong and the first sign is a dark site and a missing cable run. USP&E will help you assess, secure and monitor with confidence.
