If you move a trailer without proper stowage and checks, the risks are cracked panels, loosened connections, damaged batteries and a unit that fails on arrival. That means downtime at the new site, delay to the work it was meant to power and repair costs that eat into the savings the trailer was bought to deliver.
USP&E Helps You Move Trailers Without Damage
We know your trailers need to work the moment they arrive. USP&E has delivered 150+ power projects in 45+ countries, with 25,000 MW contracted since 2002, and our 400+ engineers and project managers plan, move and commission mobile and hybrid power plant on demanding sites. Our systems are ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified, and every deal runs under FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
You do not need a complex logistics plan for every move. You need a route check, a stowage routine and an arrival test that your team follows every time.
Check the Route and the Rules Before You Move
Check road rules, permits and route limits for your trailer’s size and weight before every move. Height, width and axle loads vary by road and by region, and a route that worked last time may now have roadworks, weight limits or a low bridge.
Look at the road surface too. Corrugated gravel roads, potholes and steep grades shake panels and batteries far more than highways. Slower speeds on rough sections and extra checks during long moves can save expensive damage.
Plan the move with the arrival site. Make sure there is access for the tow vehicle, a level, firm pad and a clear area free from shading. Our solar-hybrid systems teams plan the arrival site and the move together.
Stow, Protect and Tie Down Every Time
Stow panels, masts and loose parts in their transport positions and lock them. Follow the manufacturer’s stowage steps in order and use a checklist, because a single unlocked panel can be torn off by wind at speed. Secure cables, ground stakes and tools in their boxes.
Protect batteries and electronics from vibration, heat and water. Check battery restraints and connections before departure, and avoid leaving trailers parked in direct sun with ventilation closed for long periods. If the battery system has a transport mode, use it.
When the trailer travels on another vehicle, tie it down correctly with rated straps or chains at the approved points, and check the tie-downs during the journey. A trailer that shifts on a truck bed can damage itself and the vehicle.
Coordinate with GT Units and Test on Arrival
Many sites pair solar trailers with gas turbine generators or gensets for night and peak cover. Plan deliveries so trailers and turbine units arrive in the order they are needed, with the hybrid controls and cables ready. Short-term bridge power can cover the site while units are set up.
Inspect your trailer on arrival: panels, frame, battery, connections and controls. Test it before it powers any load and record the results. The same arrival discipline applies whether the firming comes from a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, other used/new gas turbines or natural gas engines/stations.
AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute run under hyperscale EPC/O&M follow the same staged delivery, as will the New USP&E FX-45 45MW Modular Gas Turbine for the Hyperscale Data Center sector in the USA. Where USP&E Supports Your Solar Trailer Hybrid Project
If your solar trailer and GT hybrid is in the United States, your first conversations run through USP&E’s US offices in Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700). They keep you close to developers, utilities, gas suppliers and US equipment sources, and they can walk your site before anything ships.
Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) runs engineering, protection studies and project controls for solar trailers, hybrid controllers and GT firming packages, and Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) adds design and commissioning support. London (162-168 Regent Street) structures the contract, insurance and financing file your lenders will read, while Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) follows up China supply chain and manufacturing.
For trailer moves, Colorado Springs and Knoxville teams can plan routes and stowage for US sites, while Johannesburg and Cape Town handle moves between African camps and pits. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. USP&E has delivered 150+ power projects in 45+ countries, with 25,000 MW contracted since 2002, and is ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified.
USP&E Track Record for Solar Trailer Hybrid
You want proof that USP&E can deliver mobile, modular and hybrid power on demanding schedules. These projects show that record.
- USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers.
- NEOM, Saudi Arabia: USP&E supplied three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 gas turbines as the single technical and commercial interface, and the client reported savings of over $10 million. Read the case study.
- Perenco, Guatemala: USP&E delivered a 13.1 MW HFO/diesel modular power station under full EPC in under five months, on time and on budget. Read the case study.
HowTo: Move a Solar Trailer Safely Between Sites
Your 3-step plan: 1. Share your trailer model, route and arrival site details. 2. Receive a move plan with stowage, tie-down and arrival checks. 3. Move, test and run the trailer with accountable O&M.
- Check road rules, permits and route limits for the trailer’s size and weight.
- Stow panels, masts and loose parts in their transport positions and lock them.
- Protect batteries and electronics from vibration, heat and water during the move.
- Tie down the trailer correctly when it travels on another vehicle.
- Plan deliveries so trailers and gas turbine units arrive in the order they are needed.
- Inspect the trailer on arrival and test it before it powers any load.

FAQ: Solar Trailer Transport and Tie-Down with GT
How do I prepare a solar power trailer for transport?
USP&E follows the manufacturer’s stowage steps in order: panels and masts into transport positions and locked, loose parts and cables secured, batteries checked and put in transport mode where available. A written checklist used every time prevents the small misses that cause big damage.
Can rough roads damage a solar trailer?
USP&E sees corrugated gravel, potholes and steep grades cause most transport damage. Vibration can crack panels, loosen connections and stress battery mounts. Slower speeds on rough sections, extra checks during long moves and good stowage reduce the risk considerably on every trip.
How should a solar trailer be tied down on a truck?
USP&E ties trailers down with rated straps or chains at the approved points only, and checks the tie-downs during the journey. A trailer that shifts on a truck bed can damage its frame, panels and the carrying vehicle, so correct restraint matters on every move.
What should I check when a solar trailer arrives?
USP&E inspects panels, frame, battery, connections and controls on arrival, then tests the trailer before it powers any load. Results are recorded so any transport damage is found early and can be traced. This also confirms the hybrid controls work with any turbines or gensets on site.
Where are USP&E’s offices for hybrid trailer projects?
USP&E leads hybrid trailer projects from Colorado Springs and Knoxville in the US. London supports contracts and finance, Johannesburg and Cape Town add field teams and engineering depth across Africa, and Wuxi follows up inverters, batteries and equipment made in China.
Has USP&E delivered mobile and modular power projects before?
USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies also include zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 units for NEOM and a 13.1 MW modular power station for Perenco in Guatemala.
Is USP&E a broker for solar trailers?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E plans, moves, installs and maintains mobile and hybrid power with its own people, so the team that plans your trailer move is the same team that tests it on arrival and answers for its performance.
How fast can USP&E plan a trailer move?
USP&E can start planning as soon as you share the trailer model, route and arrival site details. Engineers flag permit needs and route limits first, because they usually take longest, so your trailer can move on the date you need.
Arrive Ready to Power the Next Site
Move your trailers with care and they power the next site the day they arrive. Rush the move and you arrive with cracked panels and loose connections. USP&E will help you plan, move and commission with confidence.
